Children, Teens and Schools.

At Longford County Library our motto is to provide “a welcoming space” for children of all ages, abilities and interests. There are a wide range of services available at all of our branches. Library membership is free for all children and students.

For Children. kids in library

There is always something happening for children in our libraries. Pick up an exciting “read” or explore a wide range of non-fiction. You can be certain to find something to suit every possible taste from  beautifully illustrated picture books to attract the youngest toddler to the latest novel by your favourite author. Children may choose a book by reading an on-line review written by other children and can write reviews to recommend their favourite books to others.

If help with homework or school projects is what is needed then check out our dedicated children’s online catalogue, or use the online Encyclopaedia Britannica for Juniors using the free library computers to help in research.

For Teens.

Teens may choose from an exciting range of teenage authors, music CD's and DVD's as well as access the internet and our online resources like Newspapers Direct and Encyclopaedia Britannica Student Edition.

Special Events.

There are plenty of special events for children in our libraries both in term time and in the holidays. Watch out for book festivals with visits from well known children’s Authors or story tellers. But you can expect much more, such as art and craft workshops, magic shows and more. Check out the programme for the Childrens' Book Festival in October.

Some of the libraries have writers groups for children and parents writing together. This is a part of the Describe Scribing project. Find out more details by clicking on Childrens' Library Projects
