Dramatic demographic changes in recent years have contributed to County Longford’s growth as a county rich in cultural diversity. In order to provide a focused response to address the changing profile and meet the expectations and service requirements of the ‘new Irish', a number of new intitiatives have been introduced to promote inclusion and access for all such as :
- diversity in relation to our bookstock where we stock many titles in foreign languages.
- free access to our online database Newspapers Direct with numerous titles from many countries and in many languages,
- language learning and support.

- cultural, educational and informational programmes of activities, such as the Polish Mothers and Toddler Group and our recent cultural diversity projects, My Place, My World and Living in Longford.
