Summer Stars 2025 Sparks a Love of Reading for Over 1,300 Longford Children
This year’s Summer Stars Reading Challenge lit up County Longford from 6 June to 31 August, inviting children of all ages to dive into the joy of reading during the summer holidays. The challenge was simple but exciting: pick up a reading card from your local library, log your books, and enjoy the adventure of stories all summer long.
A fantastic 1,394 children across the county rose to the challenge, making Summer Stars 2025 one of our biggest and most successful years yet. Every completed entry was placed into our eagerly anticipated Mega Draw, adding an extra layer of fun and excitement for participants.
We are delighted to announce this year’s winners:
Leah Doris, a member of Drumlish Branch Library, who cycled away with a €200 bicycle voucher.
Grace O’Neill, a member of Longford Branch Library, who received a brand-new tablet.
Both winners were thrilled with their prizes, and their smiles captured the spirit of Summer Stars, a celebration of reading, learning, and fun.
Longford Library Services would like to extend warm congratulations to all our wonderful young readers who took part this year. Whether you read one book or twenty, you are part of a growing community of readers keeping the love of stories alive in County Longford.
We can’t wait to see what adventures next summer will bring!
