Creative Places Edgeworthstown

In 2023, Longford Arts Service and partners successfully applied for an Arts Council Creative Places research grant for Edgeworthstown. The research phase was the first of two phases to support Edgeworthstown build upon existing achievements and broaden the spectrum of creative possibilities in their town. The programme aimed to make the town a more inclusive and colourful place to live and promote a diverse and creative citizenry.

Longford Arts Service partnered with a local steering committee in Edgeworthstown representing a broad selection of local community and cultural groups. The committee was chaired by a representative from Edgeworthstown District Development Association. A Coordinating Artist and a Project Researcher were hired to carry out the research. Research methodology included existing data, interviews, discussions, conferences, workshops and block parties. The Research phase identified the main creative stakeholders and produced an outline plan for Phase Two (Project Implementation) in Edgeworthstown.  The Research will be published in late 2025.
