Halloween Community Participation Programme

The Dead of Night Parade is produced by Longford County Council every October and involves hundreds of local participants as performers and volunteers. The highlight of the festival is the Fire and Shadows Procession which takes place in Longford Town on Halloween night. The procession is funded by Longford County Council and Failte Ireland and produced by Longford Arts Services and Longford Local Community Safety Partnership.

Preparations for the Fire and Shadows Procession begin in August and involve local artists, community organisations and schools. The street spectacle group - Spraoi Waterford have partnered with Longford County Council for three years to develop spectacle skills locally.
