St. Eichi, 5 August, patroness of this parish.

This parish is situated in the baronies of Moydow, Ardagh and Shrule, and is surrounded by the parishes of Moydow, Taghsheenod, Agharra, Rathreagh and Ardagh. Of its area 1,609 acres are in Ardagh barony, 2,307 acres are in Moydow barony, and 1,826 acres are in Shrule barony.
The parish is well cultivated, well interspersed with bog, & well intersected with roads and lanes. It has 2 villages: Legan and Carrickboy, 2 demesnes, one at the Glebe House and the other at Park House, and is well supplied with spring wells and streams. Slieve Calry Mountain, called by Mac Firbis Sliabh Calraighe, is in its N.W. side.
